Winter Sports

Youth Basketball

For the 2019 season, our 3-6 grade program will continue the changes to the Sisters Youth Basketball League that took effect last year. SPRD has been working with area park and recreation departments to bring Madras, Sisters, Prineville together for a youth basketball league for grades 3-6. There will be home and away games in each of our communities. This new league will offer more competition for our small communities by enabling us to play a wider pool of players. It will also make the league more fun since kids will not be playing the same teams numerous times over the course of the season. This new league is for kids in grades 3-6. We are looking forward to this season!

Our Tiny Tikes and 1-2 grade program will see changes as well.  These programs will see a shift from individual teams to a focus on individual and program development.  Emphasis will be placed on kids learning fundamental skills together first, instead of creating teams and playing games.  At this level, it is paramount that all kids learn basic and true fundamentals that will help them become better basketball players throughout the years.  We are excited to be partnering with the high school coaches to help make this a reality.

Registration Fees: SPRD recognizes that it can be difficult to meet deadlines sometimes, so we are piloting this new process to try and meet the needs of both our participants and our organization. During winter programming, we will be accepting late registrations where feasible, with a 10% late fee. Late registration does not guarantee a spot. If you have questions or feedback on this pilot, please contact us. In addition, registrations prior to November 1 will receive a 10% Early Bird discount for registering early.
