Sisters Americana Project Summer Class - Guitar, Songwriting and the Creative Process
Grades 6 - 9
The Sisters Americana Project Summer Class is an extension of
the Sisters Folk Festival Americana Project, and will focus on
guitar instruction and songwriting for Middle School students.
The class will explore music adventurously through many means
and each day will include guitar instruction. We will learn
about American Roots Music and different styles that make up
American music and work to understand songwriting as a form of
self expression. Through music, we can find new and exciting
ways to express ourselves, our feelings and experiences using
the tool of songwriting to communicate. The class is designed
to give students a chance to explore their own creativity and
this poetic way of looking at the world. Students will give a
performance of their work on Thursday afternoon.
The class is being taught by artist in residence and
songwriter Brad Tisdel, Director of the Americana Project and
guest artist from the Sisters High School Americana
Project.
