Basketball Tournament Director and Sports Coordinator
Reports to: Sports Program Manager
Status: Non-exempt, August through March 30 -
35 hours per week.
Pay: Hourly $9.10 - $12.35

Job Purpose: Provide administration, organization and
execution of SOAR Basketball Tournaments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Tournament Director will exercise
supervision over all staff and volunteers that are hired to
work during tournaments.
• Provide budgets for each tournament
detailing all expenses and revenues.
• Oversee and maintain all team
registrations and fees
• Tournament Director is responsible for
soliciting and securing all sponsorships.
• Set dates for three to six, two day
tournaments throughout the basketball season.
• Reserving all facilities for the
tournaments in a timely manner.
• Provide an organized bracketing system
and schedules for all tournaments in a timely manner.
• Set up and take down of all facilities
during tournament dates.
• Assure that each team has completed
waivers from each participant and complete medical
information.
• Provide emergency action plan training
to all facility supervisors.
• Extensive promotion including the
following: news releases within state and local media, website
information, flyers, registration information via email to past
participants, winter-spring program brochure, research other
appropriate state wide website promotions.
• Inventory control of all products sold
during tournaments.
• Regular communication and coordination
with district staff.
• Update all district staff on
registration changes.
• Perform all other job related duties
as assigned.
• Assist Sports Program Manager with
supervision and organization of recreation leagues.

CLUBHOUSE RECREATION LEADERS
The SOAR Clubhouse program is a fun after
school and summer recreation program for kids in kindergarten
thru 5th grades. Creative play, games, arts and crafts, field
trips and fun activities planned by our staff fill up our days
in the Clubhouse program. You'll need a repertoire of games and
activities and experience working with youth in a group
setting.
OUTDOOR RECREATION LEADERS
We offer a wide variety of outdoor recreation
programs for youth; day camps, rafting, mountain biking, rock
climbing etc. Experienced leaders that have worked with young
people teaching outdoor recreation skills are needed to work in
our summer programs.
TEEN CENTER SUPERVISOR
We are looking for a great summer supervisor
who enjoys working with middle and high school age youth. A
high energy leader who can help participants organize games,
sports, activities and field trips is needed to work in our
Teen Center at the SOAR Community Center this summer.
HIGH SCHOOL INTERN PROGRAM
Are you interested in gaining some experience working with young people in recreation and youth development programs? We will be accepting 4 summer interns to work as program aides in the SOAR Summer programs. This is a great way to build your resume and potentially qualify for a paid position in the future. These are volunteer positions and if you are interested please submit your resume and application as described below.

New Program Proposal
We are always interested in new recreation program
opportunities for our community. Do you have a program idea
that you would like to propose? Would you like to lead/instruct
a program for SOAR? If so please give us a call. We will send
you, or you can pick up, a copy of the New Program Proposal
packet.
Our recreation program schedule is organized in
trimesters: Fall, Winter - Spring and Summer. Deadlines for
submitted program proposals for the program catalogue and
approximate program dates are as follows:

Normally, new program proposals will be reviewed at our
staff meetings and we will notify you of our decision in a
timely manner. Our recreation programs are divided into 4
areas. We encourage you to contact the program managers listed
below if you have any questions about developing your proposal.

responsibility most closely matches your proposal.
